How to build a Lego table

I've been wanting to buy a lego table for awhile now but they are just too expensive.  I thought I could definitely make one for so much cheaper.  Before I even googled how to make one, I came across on Craigslist a table for sale for $6.  It looked like the right size, so I contacted the lady and bought 5 of them from her (she had 12 for sale)!

Then I came home, googled how to make a Lego table and laughed because the 5 tables I bought, were the Ikea Lack tables!!  Just what I wanted!  Who would have thought!

Anyway, I waited to the very last minute to make these as Christmas gifts for my 2 boys.  It was super easy and I wish I would have gotten a little more creative, but again, I was down to the wire.

So this is what I did - super easy!

Take 4 Lego baseplates and line them up, 2x2.  I attached Lego's to keep all the plates together, this way they would all line up properly.  I took my Super Spray adhesive and sprayed the table with a good dose of adhesive and then very carefully placed the baseplates on the table.  I let them sit for a couple of hours to make sure it was dry and then took some Goof Off and rubbed it around the sides to get any excess adhesive off the top so it wasn't sticky.  And viola!  Here it is... super easy and quick and only cost me a total of $26 (base plates and table - I had the spray adhesive already).

Well the Christmas cards went out... but...

I was obviously very distracted or did a VERY poor job of quality checking (or both!).  I got an email from a dear friend of mine that shot me this email and this picture.... it said "got your card"...

LOL!  So I forgot the picture AND the signature!  And guess what - this happened more than once!  Oops!  It's the thought that counts, right?  I told you I was really bad at getting Christmas cards out.  Maybe I should stick to sending New Years cards when I have a little more time.  :)

Merry Christmas!!

Right Now

Saw this on a couple of other blogs and thought it was cute, at least a way for me to remember what I was thinking years to come because I just know I am suffering from early onset Althiemers!!  Or... maybe it is just from having two small boys and my mind is always going a hundred miles an hour!

right now i am…
watching:  House Hunters International - wishing I was buying a vacation home someplace warm!
eating:  the boys left over chicken nuggets and mac & cheese
drinking:  iced cap from Tim Hortons
wearing: black sweats, red long sleeved shirt with a Hard Rock sweatshirt over it
avoiding:  checking my email to see what tomorrow might hold at work
feeling:  tired but happy, it was a good weekend.  Had a Xmas party yesterday and today we CLEANED the basement and made it much nicer for us and the boys to hang out in.
missing:  Florida and warm weather.
thankful:  for my life and my boys.  They are the best!
weather:  20 degrees or so.  WAY to cold for me!
praying:  a little boy at Morgan Elementary that has leukemia
needing:  an extra 3 hours in the day along with the energy to go with it, to either wrap Xmas presents or make all those Lego tables!
thinking: I'm not ready to go back to work tomorrow (Mondays are so hard)
loving:  iced caps from Tim Hortons (truly addicted), our Christmas tree this year, the words "I love you mom" from Christian at least 100 x a day when I'm home, watching Nic play football outside just like his daddy did and my fabulous husband!

Life is good!

Fireplace Facelift - Christmas Decorating

I was determined not to put the Christmas decorations up this year until my fireplace was painted, and well, since it is, they are up!  It looks so much nicer with a little Christmas decor!

See my latest masterpiece (ok, not really a masterpiece, but I like it).  I didn't like the dorky little bear hanging above the mantel so I had an old wood picture that I repainted white and then stenciled PEACE onto.  Unfortunately my stenceling isn't the greatest, it always bleeds, but you can't tell with it being so far away!  The stenceling of the boys Christmas stockings worked much better than the wood picture.

And speaking of those little amigo's, here they are, cute as ever!  :)  Love my little guys!!

Christmas will be here before you know it, so that means I HAVE to get my Christmas cards out ASAP... I usually procrastinate, which means I still have cards sitting on my kitchen counter in February!  So bad!
